We were pumped to attend the 50th Koori Knockout as video producers, such a massive sporting event and gathering of Aboriginal people from across NSW.
Kawal Pictures is a supply-nation registered Aboriginal company which always seeks to bring young Aboriginal up-and-coming video staff on to jobs, and the knockout was no different, as we carried out filming for the NSW Department of Planning and the Environment, which was the official sponsor of the women's event.
There were two big talking points at this Knockout; the mud, and Latrell Mitchell's appearance. Specifically for us, trying not to get our video equipment covered in mud, and making sure we got the interview with Latrell. Success on both fronts!
Congratulations to the Dunghutti women and Newcastle men's teams who fought hard in the rain and sun to take the trophies home with them.
We hope to be back for more video and football fun this time next year, in Newcastle, home of the reigning men's champs.
